Nighthawks

Nighthawks by Edward Hopper, 1942

“The dapper man in a suit, hat,
and the redhead in a red blouse, or dress,
are clearly a couple.  Both look ahead,
neither at the other with any interest,
and chat up a bartender in a sailor-like suit
as one unit. Which party just ended?”
